A Day In The Life of A Newbie Squidooer

Come on, let’s enjoy the ride.

online discrimination, huh?!

Another day at my side of the world has just ended. I mean, it’s already past 12 and it’s weekend. What do you expect? Aren’t you glad every time Friday’s is here. I don’t know. What about you?

Though it may sound as absurd, to me, everyday is a celebration. When you come to think of it after all the day in the life, we are still here doing the same things we love to do. Be still!

I just heard I said that to myself. It’s all good.

Thank you for a lot of you suddenly bump into this blog. I actually don’t have any expectation of updating here often. Maybe because I’m tired for keeping up one blogs not just one or should I say a couple of my blog-crap out there. I have plenty of those. :) ) So, those people who knew me personally I didn’t dare them to visit.

For the most part, don’t be mistaken if I might sound so gloomy at times. I’m actually feeling upbeat nowadays. I’m learning not to take things so seriously just like coming up with my randomize ideas from time to time.

A lot of people might wondering when is the best time to update lenses. Well, I do it mostly everyday. Yep. It is a bit time consuming to run after the other lens treating them like your babies who needs time and affection.

I don’t know. How many times do you update your lens?

Some say at least once in a 30th day.

The lens rank and algorithms at Squidoo is very much unpredictable for me. My Empanada Lens has just drop down from the Top 100 List in this couple of days. At least, it experience into that position for almost 11 days. I was totally jumping at my chair and it is amazing feeling. Finally, all my hard work is paying off every time some lens is a hit in the ranks.

Well, it’s still okay when the other lenses are not.  It is a sign that I still need to learn how to develop my niche and the craft in lensmaking. I think this is it… The enjoyment of everyday comes from loving the work that you do whether some people like it or not. I’m very much pleased with that.

In the advent of online communities, I didn’t know it exists a certain conformity where people most likely discriminates you with what your profile look, or what it says about you online. I really don’t care. It’s just so fascinating for me to be part of this. And I dare say, “it won’t stop me!”

Let me know your thoughts. :-)

“I don’t know. How many times do you update your lens?”

I am constantly tweaking lenses. Every day something gets updated, fixed, reviewed. I try to look at every lens at least once a month. Some lenses require more care and are updated a few times a week while others are just once a month. On the occasion, I have missed one and had it go by for longer than I would have liked. I like having the “last updated” status on the right of the lens listing in the dashboard. It helps to keep on top of things.

hey Naiza, I usually work on at least one of my lenses every day, sometimes many…
recently I learned some new tagging and optimizing tricks which require a LOT of time and effort
I am usually on & off Squidoo all day when I am btwn “real” jobs like now.
The longest I like to let any lens go is one month.
Even if all I do is change a few words or links, I update usually every 2-4 weeks.

I probably do some updating about every other day on average. I would guess that the majority of my lenses are edited 3-4x in a month.

The social communities can be tough for sure, I’m not sure if people “discriminate” or what, but like anywhere they make judgements based on your profile. Somedays, people visit or vote for my stuff other days I am completely “ignored”. Oh well, as you say, you just have to keep moving forward.

I update when I have a new idea or think something needs “tweaking”. I dont have a set method, but I know I have a couple of lenses that need a huge overhaul. I made them when I first joined squidoo & I have learned so much since I published them that I really ought to go back and give them some love!
